New kids on the block

A warm HorseVibes welcome to Valley & Rivers Showjumping (VRSJC) who have just held their very first event.

Based in the Northern Rivers of NSW, Valley & Rivers Showjumping is a brand new show jumping club. Not slow off the mark, they held their first event at the Grafton Showgrounds in late November.

The club aims to encourage, support and nurture the sport of show jumping, and with a policy of inclusiveness, is open to all. Their vision is to hold a minimum of five training days, as well as one minor and one major show every year.

Their plan is for training days to include two rings: one with jumps starting at 80cms and going up to 1.30m or more, while the other ring will be tailored to encourage novice riders, with rails and cross rails at no higher that 70cms, the main aim being for participants to enjoy their day and travel around the course with confidence.

The committee aims to run the club’s shows in much the same way, with two rings that will attract and encourage riders of all abilities. And of course, paramount in all of their course designs, training days and competitions is the welfare of horse and rider.

The club’s equipment and storage trailer is kindly being purchased by Myles and Louise Light and hired back to the VRSJC. The equipment will meet FEI and EA rules and insurance standards, and will include FEI breakaway cups and back stands. Courses will be up to 14 fences, with a Liverpool jump and fence combinations of varying degrees of difficulty.
