Tommy Hilfiger, one of the world’s most recognisable brands, has collaborated with Barney & Baxter of Switzerland to launch a new equestrian apparel line. Inspired by the brand’s unique sports heritage and retro 90’s aesthetic, the 2021 collection features re-interpretations of tried-and-true equestrian designs suitable for everyday training, at-home wear, and competition.
Tommy Hilfiger is well known for outfitting America’s hip-hop community throughout the 90s and 00s, and was a pioneer of influencer marketing (when it wasn’t even a thing yet)- enlisting the help of artists like Snoop Dog, TLC, and Destinys Child to stretch the brand’s influence even further.
The brand collaborated with riders Matt Harnacke and Adrienne Jüliger for this launch, both models that are influential in the world of equestrian culture. It’s not the first time Tommy Hilfiger has tapped into the horse world (this year the brand worked with the Compton Cowboys on a non-related campaign), but this will be the first time Tommy has created sportswear specifically for equestrians.
The collection is also pushing design and materials in a more sustainable direction as per Tommy Hilfiger’s commitment to create fashion that Wastes Nothing and Welcomes All.
A highlight of the collection, a navy-red puffer jacket featuring a large global stripe in unmistakable Tommy style, utilizes eco-friendly recycled down filling as well as complying with the requirements laid out by the standard 100 by OEKO-TEX®.
Founded on preppy classics, the best thing about this collection is that every piece is highly versatile and can be dressed up or down, and works on or off the horse.
